[Current Mood |okayokay]

It's April 1st. (I wasn't fooled - there's no-one around to do that and it has to be done before noon to be "effective" as I understand it)..

I haven't posted a great deal to Usenet for sometime although I do access the German news-server regularly. This afternoon it refused my connection noting "account expired". I checked out their home page (news.individual.de) and discovered that ALL free accounts expire today and that to continue using this free service they will charge 10 Euros per annum. This didn't sound much so I attempted to register the existing account but got baffled enough with the German payment options (in German) to give up. My ISP runs a Usenet service (of sorts) so I'm not Usenetless, although in a sense Usenet is slowly dying as the Internet changes with time. Users are now more regionalised than they used to be. Every site knows which country a person is connecting from. Anonymous connections can hide this but then if they don't know where a user is located they often refuse to provide service. This is the way it is. So be it !

Someone rang about a job interview for Monday. I saw this mob through an agency about a year ago and didn't get anywhere. I was told to appear keener. The person interviewing me is seemingly a contractor himself. About a year ago the role then was intended to be a 3 days per week arrangement. If I'm to get anywhere at all with this I look in the mirror and think "total transplant required" :-)

I've filled in lots of figures into a spreadsheet from 4 years of annual reports for the companies whose Financial Statements I will be commenting on. This gives me a better idea of the in's and out's but the figures themselves don't do the required analysis. I'm pleased to have received bank interest. I need it...
