Yesterday I spoke to bro' Alan in Cornwall who rang me (on my land-line) using PC Internet telephone software. The voice quality was good. We spoke for an hour.
Noting the cost of the call via email the Cornwall side of the family notes:-
My 1 hour call to you via Skype cost the princely sum of 1.022 Euros, which is less than 2 pence! I see though that I have to spend my 10 Euros by September .....
After the phone call I turned on the TV and watched a program about the sailing ship "The Titanic". I note in passing that is one turns on the TV at random intervals one is likely to encounter programs about Adolf Hiltler, The Third Retch, Napoleon, The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire and/or indeed the "Titanic". After that I watched the news noting Prince Charles shaking John Howard's hand and that he didn't proclaim as some people believed he would that he would never aspire to be King of Australia. Princess Mary of Hobart was noted to be somewhat "better" than some other royals and was shown reading books to children at Westmead hospital here in Sydney. She said "quack quack" very nicely.
There then followed a program about the "wild" and lions hunting their prey and the humble Aardvark wandering around half blind seeking tasty termite mounds. Termites seemingly communicate chemically via their antenna and "know" when an Aardvark has infiltrated their defences. This results in the scurrying of termites in all directions and the biting of the Aardvark's long sticky tongue by defence force termites.
I noted that the planet Earth appears to be a somewhat strange and colourful place.
