I have just read the "Arabian Nights" story "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves".|
From this I note that
a) Ali Baba and those associated with him had somewhat dubious ethics.
b) The whole mess arose when one of his relatives forgot the name of the grain he used when entering the cave and instead of uttering "Open Sesame" uttered "Open Barley" instead cycling through every grain he could think of until he met his demise at the hands of the thieves.
c) The "chief thief" was somewhat stupid and Ali Baba's relatives and slaves more than a bit "wise" in a worldly sense.
