Today I took a trip into the inner western suburbs of Sydney and specifically sought to locate the building from which I commenced my 39 years of residency/citizenship in Australia. This is the building (at that time a boarding house)
House in Summerhill (inner Western Suburb of Sydney)
I attempted to come to terms with my hopes and aspirations at the time of my arrival and although I recognise what they were and how they were or weren't fulfilled I cannot even begin to comprehend how much Australia and myself have changed and how much we remain unchanged.
It was a time of economic prosperity and jobs were easy to obtain .... 39 years ago.
Tomorrow the local electricity company are going to start the day by installing a generator and cutting the power (early morning) and then they are going to cut the power again to uninstall a generator (afternoon). I plan to be in the CBD tomorrow at a free Accounting seminar and later in the day attending an Australian Computer Society "event" on the subject "Emotional Intelligence" (something that was covered in another special interest group last week). I will leave tweeting and twittering for the following day.
It's hard to tweet and twitter with the power down.
