The Bain's and our heritage [Dec. 11th, 2003|07:06 pm]
Bob Bain
[Current Mood |contemplativecontemplative]

All Bains are said to be descendants of King Duncan of Scotland who was
murdered by MacBeth in Shakespeare and real life. Donalbane, mentioned
briefly in the play, bunked off to Ireland pretty smartish - a rare moment
of insight on his part - and much later returned and became King himself for
six months, after which, in correct Scottish fashion, he was assassinated.
I was told this story at my fathers' knee (one Donald Bain) and have heard
the same tale from Bains across the globe who have also been fed with it.
The last one I was in touch with was in Nova Scotia (New Scotland).
