Paris Hilton arrives in Melbourne
Ben Doherty, Michelle Johnson December 29, 2008
Paris Hilton has touched down at Melbourne Airport on a whirlwind trip of the city ahead of a party appearance in Sydney on New Year's Eve.
Hilton and her security detail swept through an international arrivals hall jammed with a holidays crowd and a 40 to 50-strong contingent of her Melbourne fan-base.
Shortly before her appearance, word rippled through the crowd that ''Paris Hilton's coming'', exciting those clutching her book, Confessions of an Heiress and magazines featuring her on the cover.
Once Hilton emerged - wearing a sky-blue tracksuit with a hood and blue sunglasses - several of her fans approached seeking autographs and a photo.
Among them was Steve Booth, who proclaimed that he "really, really liked'' Hilton.
"She's really good - she comes across as a really down-to-earth person,'' he said.
"Sure, she's made mistakes, but she's just a really nice person.
"There's a lot of egos in Hollywood, but she doesn't have one.''
Hilton's entourage will leave for Sydney tomorrow before the star's appearance at the Bongo Virus New Year's Eve party, which will be held at the Trademark Hotel's Piano Room.
It is believed the sisters are receiving $100,000 to appear at the party.
It seems I can purchase tickets for the Bongo Virus event but I think I'll leave it. If I wish to see Paris (in the nude) a quick trip to Parramatta is easier and possibly less of strain on my nervous system Flashback July 2008
