Update to my "social calendar". Tomorrow morning I anticipate attending the forum on ISP Filtering Proposals at the Cyberspace Law and Law Policy Centre noting that Cyberlaw expert Graham Greenleaf is co-director of the Centre and also a listed member of ACS ELSIC.
Yesterday I rang Mike Meloni of Somebody think of the Children as I understand Mike may be thinking of attending. I have made a few entries in Mike's blog and may have even uploaded a video clip or two to the nocensorshipaus YouTube channel which has rated highly in the Australian YouTube ratings this week possibly due to the foundation of the Australian Sex Party.
I also called my painter friend in the Blue Mountains (who is currently teaching art to the mentally handicapped) and have tentatively arranged to meet up with him in the Blue Mountains on the first weekend in December. I understand he has paintings on the wall(s).
There's a final ( 2008 ) meeting of the ACS Business Intelligence group this evening (free to members as usual) but if I'm to get up early tomorrow I know I don't have the energy to do both so today is a "day of rest".
I had a NEIS mentor meeting last week and explained the difficulties I have been having getting the "corporate" computer fixed under warranty. In the end I bought an appropriate wireless card from someone in Shanghai China on EBay and plugged it in to the mini-PCI express slot and it's been working ever since. $21 on Ebay and Acer Computer suggested the only way I could get the computer fixed was to send it back to them and allow them to wipe the hard drive (again).
I'm now "back in business" (if that's the correct word).
