buttons are sewn on clothing,
binding coats around the chest,
preventing cold from getting in;
sartorial elegance; the best.

bells are found in steeples,
and on a bicycle or two,
alerting the ears of people
to things that they might do.

simple bigotry is narrow,
a tunnel of the mind,
leading in one direction
without a map; quite blind.

undoing buttons - freedom !,
with skin exposed to air
leaving wearers vulnerable;
a state perhaps threadbare.

but in essence of exposure,
in sensing something new,
bells can ring out clearly
that one and one make two...

ideas may then flow freely,
until the number five;
doubts button up exposure,
and we see bigotry revive ...
