I rang Allied Mills to determine if Brian is still working there (see HIH nonsense from previous postings). It seems he is and I left a brief message on his answering machine to say I called. If he had answered I'm sure we would have exchanged greetings. There isn't a great deal to talk about although it's nice to know that Brian manages to hold his feet in what can be a difficult industry.
About Allied Mills (link)...
Allied Mills was created with the October 2002 purchase by a GrainCorp/Cargill joint venture of the milling and mixing business previously owned and managed by Goodman Fielder. The Goodman Fielder business arose from the acquisition and integration in 1998 of the milling and mixing assets of the then Bunge Defiance Group of Companies. The acquisition of 1998 rationalised the assets of Goodman Fielder, Defiance Milling and Bunge Australia.
It was the formation of the company Goodman Fielder Food Services that brought me into their ambit in mid 1999. I was (almost) offered a permanent job but due to the sale of the "flour business" this didn't happen. I was most certainly working for GF/Allied Mills on September 11th. 2001 as I watched the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York on the TV set in the kitchen. I still have their "millennium bug" ( a small Volkswagen painted in Goodman Fielder gold and yellow from the year 2000 when the "world was about to end" due to the "millennium bug".)
I'm still awaiting payment for the first week of my two week contract at Channel 9. I have canceled the DEN appointment for tomorrow on account of the fact I am working (even if still awaiting payment). My local MP Jackie Kelly was on Channel 9 this morning - seemingly live from the studio below. She didn't look well and is seemingly quitting politics due to personal pressures which include accounts of a car smash in 2003 when she seemingly almost killed her two children.
