Hi BobB. Remember +A's cousin Sandra? She was at Dad's funeral, and the relative of that lot +A liked best. Her husband Louis died 9 or 10 July, she sent a letter to me. She will miss him dreadfully, they were very happy. I shall send some money to a cats' protection soc in his memory as they love (loved in his case I suppose!) cats
It occurred to me to go to my personal home page on www.jobsearch.gov.au which is where job seekers and dole recipients receive communications. It appears I have my first contact with the DEN people next Tuesday. There is money in the bank from the NewStart allowance but nothing from the tax refund (also done electronically) which according to their optimistic letter is normally paid within 14 days of lodgment (4th. July + = 18th ) and is therefore expected any time now (?).
Yesterday my ADSL2+ connection was operating at suboptimal speeds. I rang TPG and they said it was fine on their end so I shut down all computers (!) [my Werrington network], unplugged the modem and restarted and then hit various things until it was back to normal. I have installed Ubuntu Linux 7.04 server on the machine downstairs. It sits there with a pulsing command line prompt. Ubuntu Linux 7.04 desktop is on the machine next to me. It works quite well for Ubuntu certified things but not everything is Ubuntu certified - such as RealPlayer and Sun Java (although it is in the informal "go get it" list). SeaMonkey doesn't work properly with Usenet although "Pan" appears to be operational (although somewhat sparse in features compared to ForteInc's Windows "Agent".
John Howard appeared on YouTube and has copped a bagging.
