I spoke to Trevor for about an hour and a half last night. Trevor notes No email from the "Wicca Princess".
I lodged a credit card dispute with the bank regarding the "Blaze Media Pro" program ( Activation key should be sent by email ). They are sending paperwork. As I subsequently paid by PayPal in the hopes this would go directly to them rather than via an agent I used the PayPal dispute resolution system which allows purchasers to initiate a dispute which is sent to the vendor to be answered. I had a reply within 20 minutes (including the activation key). It seems they have been emailing me constantly with the activation key but obviously I haven't been receiving the emails.
In anticipation of a tax refund I have "splurged out" on further (very cheap) computer hardware (it's amazing how low the prices can get) and these are Acer machines. I now have a machine running Windows Vista "Business" which is a different "beast" from Windows Vista Home Premium. It is perhaps wrongly named. It has backup features and encryption but unlike Vista Home Premium Windows Media Player will not play a DVD (it is prohibited from doing so). This is also the case with Windows Vista Home Basic but Acer provides programs that will do this (from a hidden partition). The cost of the machine was only a few dollars more than the full retail price of Windows Vista Business on disk.
I intend to use a second Acer machine to set up as a Linux (Ubuntu Linux) machine. I will bypass the 60 gig Acer "special partitioned" Windows Vista disk entirely - easily done - simply plug in a (much larger) cheap SATA drive and connect the cables to that and then boot from the Ubuntu CD by hitting F12.
I am feeling a lot better in the past few days than I have all year. I have an appointment with my "Job Network Member" on Friday. An agency rang and asked if I was available for work and they have noted that I am. It's not much use thinking "work" if I look and feel absolutely awful. Hopefully things are "improving" but I am in many respects a fortunate person (roof over my head and living in a country with a welfare system).
It seems a new neighbour is moving into the unit next door. He was playing with a drill when I got back from the city yesterday. The lady who lived there before (and once gave me some candles for Christmas) is no longer there. He won't be moving in until settlement. I understand he paid $147,000 for the unit which I guess is the market price for this unit although he noted that others were being advertised at $180,000 and believed a settlement was reached on a similar unit for $160,000. I paid $72,000 but that was 10 years ago.
