Following my request for a review sent to Centrelink in Adelaide the person who raised the invoice has admitted that an error was made and that as a consequence my "overpayment" is $0.00 (zero) rather than $392.38. As a consequence I owe them nothing, which was the case all along.
I have managed to pay 10 Euros to the Usenet server in Berlin news.individual.de. They now charge an annual fee. Someone in the Agent newsreader newsgroup gave me a few hints with regards to this and as soon as I hit the "pay now" button the Agent newsreader was back in contact with the server in Berlin. This is a University server and far more reliable than the TPG server even though the performance of the local server appears to have improved quite a bit (speed of propagation etc.). News.individual.de is an non-binary server.
I have noticed performance issues with this (upstairs) machine for quite a while. It appears that the problem has been hardware memory related and I took the time today to purchase two 512K SDRAM DIMM modules. I have removed what the POST test was telling me was/is faulty memory. This means this machine now has 1 gig of memory. It isn't the fastest machine in the Universe and is "old" by modern standards but then so am I :-)
I received a thumbs-up ("you appear to meet the criteria") for a job but it's located in Canberra. I have to think about following through on that as they require a few paragraphs to assist with the application by Wednesday morning. It is noted that I would have to relocate. Dunno. I wouldn't mind living in Canberra but where would I live etc. ? The employment agency are located in Melbourne.
