Certificate of Attainment (Professional Practice Orientation Program) [Nov. 30th, 2007|04:59 pm]

[Current Mood |blankblank]

I have received a "Certificate of Attainment" for my attendance at the Professional Practice Orientation Program of the National Institue of Accountants. This enables me to apply for a Public Practice Certificate.

I have received a telephone invite to attend (with other members of the Institute) on the evening of December 13th to discuss experiences with the "NIA Program" which consists of the modules leading to a Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting and the additional modules which lead to the Master of Commerce (Professional Accounting) degree (completed 2005). I understand thee will be free "goodies" and there's also the possibility of free tickets to watch a movie (at a cinema). I have had free tickets at least once before but never used them.

I rarely know what's on at the cinemas.

I have read the first chapter of a book regarding the accounting software MYOB which is part of my concept for conducting business operations (but not the primary focus). With a Public Practice Certificate I can apply for participation in their Professional Partners program

MYOB Professional Partner Program - Public Accountant (link)

They would probably accept an application at the present time given that I am legally entitled to practice as my annual income is less than $10,000

A statement of intent was sufficient to get me into the Quicken Professional Partners Program but I didn't follow that route ( a few years back )

I currently have a trial version of MYOB and it's ODBC connectivity. I'll plod through the book before delving into the software.
